Ply

An abbreviation for Plywood. Plywood is composed of thin sheets (or "veneers") of wood./ It can be made of many different types of wood, but most furniture applications use a hardwood ply, such as Birch. Birch has many mechanical advantages, it doesn't twist or bend easily because of the way the layers a composed.
