Gothic style is originally attributed to the religious architecture of the 12th Century which was ornamental and highly embellished, and was perceived as crude and barbaric by some. The influences of this style have recurred many times in the following years, and there have been many revivals in which elaborately carved furniture and cabinetry have been produced as an echo of the style.
