Ben Whistler

A Victorian movement that advocated the virtues of craftsmanship in the production of furniture and other homeware. There was a large focus on the use of natural materials and skilled decoration, and can be seen to be a backlash against the increasingly widespread mechanisation of furniture production, amongst other things. William Morris is probably the most well known advocate of this movement.
